Recycling is Another Way We Show We Care.

Our environment is as much a concern to us as it is to our customers. That's why we've joined a collection network that removes old carpet and padding for recycling instead of adding to overburdened landfills. In partnering with Shaw Industries, one of the industry's largest manufacturers with an active recycling program, we honor our commitment to improving the planet for future generations. Through this partnership, we are part of the effort that diverts 300 million pounds of carpet annually from landfills. That is the equivalent of a 12' roll of carpet more than 10,000 miles long.

Eco-Friendly Efforts in Action

In addition to recycling discarded carpet products, we support the Cradle-to-Cradle process, also known as a Closed Loop Cycle, an initiative that seeks to renew synthetic products. Essentially, old Nylon 6 carpet is recycled back to its original material, then used to manufacture new products. By the nature of its composition, Type 6 Nylon can be used repeatedly with no loss of quality or comfort. In addition to Nylon 6, other fibers from old carpets and padding, like polypropylene, olefin, polyester, PE and PTT can be recycled as well. These recycled materials can be found in dashboards and bumpers for automobiles, and building materials such as PVC piping for construction.

	Energy Conservation – Industry wide savings of 4.4 trillion of BTU’s per year
	Oil Savings – An estimated savings of 700,000 barrels per year industry wide
	Huge reduction in quantities of carpet rolls dumped in landfills
	Conversion of waste into steam for power plant operations, resulting in cleaner emissions, and less fuel oil used annually for manufacturing carpet
	Reduced greenhouse gases
